The famous ASAC chocomel weekend finally has a location! After sending dozens of emails and looking at twice as many possible locations we finally decided on a location: The freyr hut. For those unfortunate enough to never have spent a night in there, it has at least six double-width bunk-beds, a very nice fire place and a table in the middle. Depending on how cosy we all want to be during the night we can sleep there with around 24-30 people. People that would rather sleep alone or in a tent, the bivouac field is open so you can pitch your tent there.
With night temperatures historically being 0 degrees and day temperatures being around 5 degrees, you would do well to bring all your warmest clothes and a thermos flask containing your favourite (non alcoholic) drink. This weekend will be filled with eating cake, drinking chocomel, doing a route, and then failing to warm up again.
As for the climbing plans, there will be two groups:
- An OVM group that will be climbing in freyr
- An OVS group that will spend their time in pont-a-lesse.
This creates a bit of a problem with the weekend prices. Therefore I have made a handy flowchart:
