Awesome that you want to sign-up to join our student association. Make sure that you don’t lose this brochure, because it contains important information about the coming weeks. The RETRO period is the ASAC’s introduction, which will last six weeks. We’ll organize many activities in order to familiarize you with the club, its members, your fellow beginners, and the various climbing facilities in Amsterdam. On this webpage you’ll find information about important dates, time-schedules, and the locations of the activities where you’ll be expected during the RETRO period. So, take out your calendar and copy all the events, so you won’t have to miss a thing! Alongside information on the RETRO period, this leaflet contains information about climbing courses, the ASAC committees, the website, Facebook pages and the ASAC’s anthem. Information and Contact
On the website of the ASAC, asac.nl, you can do several things. You can sign up for courses and weekends (for example for the beginners weekend!), After the retro period, you become a full ASAC member and can also look at pictures, discover the ASAC history, check the agenda and stay up to date about the ASAC and the Alps. Kasper, our secretary, will add you to the website, so you will get a personal page and use the sign-up links. In a few days the webmaster will send an email with further instructions. To stay up to date with everything that happens in the ASAC, we use several Whatsapp-groups within the ASAC Whatsapp community and the ASAC Google Calendar. The most important Whatsapp-group is ASAC Upcoming events. Here the board announces the upcoming events of the ASAC. Aside from this, there’s the ASAC Klimmen? app to find climbing buddies and the ASAC photo-app for all your climbing pictures and a lot of other groups you can discover. And last but not least, you can subscribe to the ASAC Google Calendar, in which we post all upcoming events! For direct questions, please ask your mentors, who will be assigned to you at the information evening, or ask Gioia (+31 6 47010178), who is the main coordinator for the RETRO period.
Courses and Training
The ASAC has several courses you can follow, those being Outdoor Lead (OVS and OVM) and Trad Climbing (OVT). Every Mondays USC gives the ASAC climbing training in the USC, Science Park. On tuesdays there is running traning starting from USC and on Wednesdays the ProjectCie goes project climbing at MountainNetwork. For more information, check out the website.
Costs
The cost for membership is €40 for a whole year. The cost for the RETRO period is €50.
